lean SL® INOX+

Stainless steel circular rack and pinion gearboxes

For environments where coatings reach their limits – coastal climates, car washes, food production. The rack, pinion and housing are made from the same material: the corrosion protection is not on the surface, but within the material itself.

It’s the PLUS+ that makes the difference.

lean SL® INOX+

A coating only provides protection for as long as its surface remains intact.

A scratch, a worn spot caused by continuous use, or a small area of damage – and the unprotected base material is exposed. It is precisely there that corrosion often sets in more quickly than if the surface had never been coated.

  • R
Protection within the material rather than on the surface
  • R
Ready for action in demanding conditions
  • R
    Less maintenance, less downtime
  • R
    Hygienic and easy to clean

At a glance.

The Basis – lean SL®

simple, economical lifting movements.

Before we discuss the surface, let’s look at the motion task. lean SL® is positioned as a robust gearbox for simple and cost-effective lifting tasks: tensile and compressive forces are transmitted reliably; this series is not designed to absorb lateral forces via the rack.

This makes lean SL® the ideal basis for applications where the primary focus is on a simple, functional lifting motion – regardless of which surface is subsequently chosen.

Reliably transmitting tensile and compressive forces
  • R
Modular system with identical connection dimensions for each size
  • R
Can be combined with lifgo® in a single system

The PLUS+ - lean SL® INOX+

All made of stainless steel.

For projects where material and environmental requirements are a key consideration, lean SL® INOX+ offers a variant that complements the tried-and-tested lean SL® principle with a stainless steel concept.

Whether stainless steel is the right choice for a particular project is not determined by a desire to use as much stainless steel as possible, but by the specific application: what substances come into contact with the system, how often and by what means is it cleaned, and what internal or sector-specific requirements – such as those from the food or pharmaceutical industries – must be met?

What are the conditions

that make the surface the focus of attention.

A standard finish is the right and most cost-effective choice for most applications. However, there are recurring circumstances in which designers and technical managers should deliberately address the question of surface finish at an earlier stage.

Feuchtigkeit im Betrieb

Etwa durch Kondensation, Waschprozesse oder Außenaufstellung.

Kontakt mit Reinigungsmitteln

Regelmäßiger Kontakt mit Reinigungsmitteln oder Prozessmedien.

Interne Werksnormen

Materialvorgaben, die für bestimmte Anlagenbereiche gelten.

Branchenkontext

Keine Bedingung entscheidet allein.

Keine dieser Bedingungen bedeutet automatisch, dass eine andere Ausführung nötig ist. Sie bedeutet, dass die Frage gestellt werden sollte – und zwar bevor das Getriebe konstruktiv festgelegt ist.

Axes of motion in chocolate production

Confectionery production: lean SL gearboxes handle motion tasks in chocolate production — whilst operating in close proximity to the product and undergoing regular cleaning.

Wet areas with direct product contact

Food production: Where water and cleaning agents are used on a daily basis, the stainless steel version replaces coated variants — without requiring any design changes to the shaft.

Semi-outdoor and weather conditions

Outdoor applications or in open hall areas: Stainless steel withstands moisture, temperature fluctuations and salt exposure in environments where coatings are subject to mechanical stress.

Why the standard version

can become a risk.

If the environmental conditions are not known until after the design has been approved, this typically gives rise to two problems.

01

Design changes.

Once a design has been finalised, it can only be modified at additional cost – and, in the worst-case scenario, this may involve a new installation space assessment, revised connection dimensions or extended delivery times.

02

A decision made under time pressure.

The decision is then often made under time pressure, rather than on the basis of a structured assessment.

The real question is not: ‘How much does the additional surface area cost?’, but rather: ‘Which option reduces the risk of an incorrect specification?’

This perspective shifts the discussion away from a purely financial consideration towards a well-founded technical decision – and that is precisely why it is worth including the surface as a separate consideration in the early design phase.
