lifgo® TDC+

Rack-and-pinion gearbox with a combined surface design concept

Surface protection should be considered at the early stage of gearbox selection. For applications involving high cycle rates, combined forces and sensitive environmental conditions, TDC+ complements the lifgo® series with thin chrome plating and anodising.

It’s the PLUS+ that makes the difference.

lifgo® TDC+

lifgo® TDC+ has been developed for use in particularly sensitive environments, such as those found in the medical technology, pharmaceutical and food industries. The thin chrome-plated and anodised surface of the rack-and-pinion drive offers additional corrosion protection and makes the system particularly resistant to moisture, cleaning agents and aggressive media.

This makes the lifgo® TDC+ ideally suited to hygiene-critical applications where precision, durability and corrosion resistance are equally important – ensuring reliable operation even under the most demanding conditions.

At a glance.

The basics – lifgo®

Fast, precise lifting, guiding and positioning.

Before we turn to the surface, the motion task takes precedence here too. lifgo® is designed for fast, precise and powerful movements and combines lifting, guiding and positioning in a single transmission principle. The quadruple roller guide absorbs tensile, compressive and lateral forces – a key difference from simpler lifting mechanisms, whose rack is not designed to absorb lateral forces.

This makes lifgo® the ideal basis for applications involving dynamic, precise and mechanically demanding motion sequences – regardless of which surface concept is subsequently chosen.

The PLUS+ - lifgo® TDC+

Thin-film chrome plating and anodising.

For applications requiring a higher level of surface protection, lifgo® TDC+ is available as a variant that supplements the lifgo® principle with a combined surface treatment concept: thin dense chromium coating and anodising.

What are the conditions

that make the surface the focus of attention?

A standard finish is the right and most cost-effective choice for most applications. However, there are recurring circumstances in which designers and technical managers should deliberately address the question of surface finish at an earlier stage.

Humidity during operation

For example, due to condensation, washing processes or outdoor installation.

Contact with cleaning products

Regular contact with cleaning agents or process media.

Internal Working Standards

Material specifications applicable to specific areas of the plant.

Industry context

Food, medical or pharmaceutical environments, where material-related issues are generally clarified at an early stage.

Visible areas of the plant

Areas where the appearance of the surface also plays a role.

No single condition is decisive on its own.

None of these conditions automatically means that a different design is required. It means that the question should be asked – and before the gearbox design is finalised.

Why the standard version

can become a risk.

If the environmental conditions are not known until after the design has been approved, this typically gives rise to two problems.

01

Design changes.

Once a design has been finalised, it can only be modified at additional cost – and, in the worst-case scenario, this may involve a new installation space assessment, revised connection dimensions or extended delivery times.

02

A decision made under time pressure.

The decision is then often made under time pressure, rather than on the basis of a structured assessment.

The real question is not: ‘How much does the additional surface area cost?’, but rather: ‘Which option reduces the risk of an incorrect specification?’

This perspective shifts the discussion away from a purely financial consideration towards a well-founded technical decision – and that is precisely why it is worth including the surface as a separate consideration in the early design phase.
